If you have followed any of my posts or have met with me, you know that I am not a fan of diets. To me a diet is something someone goes off of. You go on a diet and off a diet, we often times end of gaining and losing weight. What if just eating healthy is the answer. So what does that mean…. eating healthy?
Well some people believe that eating healthy means eating no meat, or no red meat, or just fish. Eating healthy for someone else could mean eating only vegetables. Some people eat only fruit. Some people steer clear of anything related to an animal (vegan).
I respect people’s views and understand the reasons, but I think we need to be careful not to get caught up in these fads. For decades people have been trying all these diets. The average person has tried several different diets. They go on and off. Why don’t they work? Because they are a diet. Something you will do temporarily. Go back to your old ways the weight goes back on. If you struggled with weight before a diet, why would you think going on a diet and going off will change the way your body responds to those foods.
People are gaining weight and having inflammation leading to disease not so much because of the different types of foods, but the chemicals and lack of nutrients in foods. People will often times feel that eating carbs is a problem for them. I don’t understand how carbs can be a problem. Understanding carbs is a better way of putting things in perspective. Fruits and vegetables and whole grains are complex carbs. Your body needs these important carbs. If you have problems with grains, it is more than likely you are eating GMO grains sprayed with glyphosates, or you have a compromised digestive system. Lacking the important disaccharidases needed to break down the sugars in foods. Enzymes may be needed. Villi may be damaged etc. Healing the gut is first and foremost.
Does it make sense that all healing plans to reduce inflammation and heal people from cancer, arthritis etc, always recommend cut back on red meat and dairy, but we have diets incorporating a diet that focuses on high meat and dairy consumption. You may lose weight, but does that doesn’t necessarily equate to healing and preventing disease. Just because people lose weight why do people assume they are healthier.
Eating whole organic foods, free of pesticides and GMO’s are more important than finding a restrictive diet to follow. The restrictions should only be white sugar, white flour, high refined salt, meats with nitrates, dried fruits with sulphites. Stay away from chemicals and food colourings. These are the things we should be concerned with.
Eat mostly fruits and vegetables. Whole organic grains, quinoa, millet, oats. Soaked nuts and seeds, dried organic fruits. Small amounts of grass fed meat and butter from grass fed cows, wild caught fish. Small amounts of coconut oil, olive oil added to veggies. If you want to add some cheese only unpasteurized cheese. I would never eat any pasteurized dairy, it causes an immune response. Most of my clients with weight issues and joint issues are addicted to cheese.
I had cancer when I was 39, and was a healthy weight but ate lots of dairy and meat. I have eaten this way for almost 12 years and I am turning 57 this year and feel the best I have ever felt. I have helped dozens and dozens of people as well, and they do have great results when incorporating this lifestyle.
