Key nutrients for immune support

Our immune system is our army against invaders. How we support our immune system is everything in how we prevent illness and recovery.

Some key things we need to understand when it comes to our immune system, is we need to help give it the ammunition it needs, such as, nutrients like zinc, Vit D, Vit C, green tea extract , quercetin, reishi mushroom extract and shitaki mushroom extract. All these things are powerful to give our T cells what they need to do their job.

Imagine a carpenter without the hammer and screw driver. Or the painter without his paint. Or we would never expect our car to run without the right gas or oils in the engine.

Why do we think our body will run efficiently without the proper nutrients. Nutrients such as B vitamins, magnesium, selenium, Vit E, Vit C etc etc are the only things that keep our cells healthy and help these T cells fight off invaders from the outside of the body.

If we don’t bring in enough nutrients into the body with healthy food, and then make things even worse by bringing in things that are not meant to be in the body. White sugar, white bread, artificial colours and preservatives.

When we bring these non foods into the body, the body does not recognize what it is, and then it needs to pull whatever B vitamins and chromium we have in the body to metabolize it. If we do this long enough we end up in a deficit. On top of this if we eat white sugar it can paralyze these valuable T cells so they can’t fight infection. White sugar also competes with Vit C getting into your cells.

Over the holidays and during this time of panic with viruses. Do yourself a favour….. Avoid white sugar, white bread, artificial sweeteners like asparatame, sucralose, nitrates, sulphites, artificial colours. Reduce dairy consumption, and red meat. Eat lots of fruits and veggies. Drink lots of filtered water. Drink green tea. Take a good quality probiotic which supports healthy gut bacteria, which helps regenerate a healthy immune response. 70% of your immune system is from your healthy gut bacteria.

Along with these suggestions take a high quality multi vitamin. The one pictured on here has all the vitamins I have mentioned in these article. Plus the green tea extract, plus the quercetin, zinc, vit D, Vit C. If you need extra Vit D USANA has that as well. Do you know if your supplement you are taking is pharmaceutical grade? Is it bio available (does it absorb in your body?). Do you put the right gas and oils in your car so the engine runs well? If you have a cheap car maybe you don’t care. But if you have bought a car that you value you wouldn’t dream of putting anything in it that isn’t suppose to go in it.

Would you actually be embarrassed to go to a mechanic and claim we are not sure why our car isn’t running, if we put in the wrong oil or put water in our gas tank? Why do we go to a doctor knowing full well we are not eating well and exercising, and be surprised with a diagnosis of disease. Just remember research has shown that only a very small percentage of diseases are genetic. Less than 5%. So therefore lifestyle is everything.
